If oil painting is the prose of painting, then encaustic is its poetry.
Chester Arnold
Encaustic was originated from the Greek word enkaustikos, “to burn in” the artists who use wax share a passion for organic materials. Working with wax is a meditative process, the alchemy of mixing colors, pouring, painting and using heat to melt and fuse it is a delightful process for the artist. The wax has a mind of its own, artist need to guide it according to his/her creative expression, and work in complete understanding of its natural properties.
